Benjamin Jason Douglas

East Nashville by way of a creekside suburb right outside of Baltimore, songwriter Benjamin Jason Douglas weaves classic American folk tales not unlike those of John Prine and Guy Clark. But he’s also lit up by the torch song sarcasm of Randy Newman. Those influences come to you mixed-up with the voodoo blues of Dr. John on a whiskey-soaked bender with Tom Waits.

“Without the darkness I doubt you’d see the stars,” says East Nashville songwriter Chris Watts. From suffering a gunshot wound as a Louisiana National Guardsman on Hurricane Katrina duty to cutting his teeth at the raucous honky-tonks of Music City’s Broadway Ave., the Louisiana native has certainly seen both.

He’s opened for internationally touring acts ranging from Sammy Kershaw to Snoop Dogg, and his songs have appeared on some of America’s most acclaimed terrestrial radio stations, including WWOZ New Orleans and WSM Nashville, home of the Grand Ole Opry.

His debut EP ‘The God’s Own Truth’ was named “Best of 2016” (The Revue). He will release the rock guitar-driven ‘American Kind,’ the first single from his debut full-length solo album, in early 2018. “Watts sings in the title track ‘I may never be Bob Dylan,’ but he has a knack for melody, lyrics, and truth that shows promise as an artist coming into his own.” (No Depression)

Jon Chambers

Although he hails from the hollers of East Tennessee, Jon Chambers spent his growing up years seeking music from the outside. As he took to the guitar, he resisted the urge to mimic Southern Rock and bluegrass, instead pursuing a sound that he describes as “against the grain”. Chambers found traction with this style as he founded The Penny Dreadfuls, a band centered around dark theatrical music. With this group, Chambers produced and wrote two albums. From The Penny Dreadfuls came Big Spider Country, a loud and looping side project.
