About
The Lilburn Community Partnership (LCP), a non-profit organization, is directly responsible for the operation, maintenance, and management of the National Historic Wynne-Russell House in Lilburn GA. This year, 2026, is a big year for our organization as we celebrate the home's 200-Year Birthday and we recieved the honor of being inducted into the Gwinnett County Preservation Hall of Fame this May.
The house was built by Thomas and Mary Wynne in 1826. The property contains the remains of several members of the Wynne Family, including Thomas and Mary, 4 children are also buried there. The family lived in a "traditional rural folk house" that originally had two rooms, one downstairs and one upstairs. Food was cooked in a separate structure away from the house. Many changes occurred to the home over the 150 years in which the home was occupied. In 1971, the last member of the Russell family living in the home, Ms. Mary Russell, passed away and the house was abandoned for a few years. The City of Lilburn purchased the property in 1975 and members of the Lilburn Women's Club, along with many volunteers, restored the home to its historic beauty. The current organization, also comprised of volunteers, dedicate their time and energy to making the house a vibrant part of the Lilburn community. Every penny raised or donated to the house is put right back into the property for education, maintenance, and upkeep. History Tours are conducted through the summer months to educate the public about the property and the families that lived there. Special fund-raising events are held throughout the year to bring history alive and to help pay for the upkeep of the property. During the holidays, a free Open House is held for people to personally tour the house, to visit the best Santa in Gwinnett, or to purchase homemade goodies from our bake sale fundraiser. The house can be seen in its original glory during our candlelight history tours which also occur during the holidays. The property can be rented by members of the community to celebrate special events or to have a fun party. There is a monthly meeting of the Wynne-Russell House Committee that is open to the public. Please check out our website for more information about happenings at the house and for more information about the property. The volunteers of the Historic Wynne-Russell House and the LCP appreciates the nomination to be one of the "Best in Gwinnett"!
