Atlanta Chinese Dance Company entertains and educates audiences on Chinese history and culture through the art of Chinese dance. Founded in 1991 by Hwee-Eng Lee and co-directed by Hwee-Eng and Kerry Lee, the 80+ member troupe has presented twenty original Chinese dance productions – enchanting Chinese and non-Chinese audiences alike. ACDC also serves as a cultural ambassador via community outreach performances, educational lecture-demonstrations, and workshops for schools and universities, libraries, senior centers, museums, military bases, businesses, cultural events, and more throughout metro Atlanta and surrounding areas. Most notably, the company helped showcase Atlanta to the world as performers in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and presented the “Chinese variation” in the Atlanta Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker at the The Fox Theatre for more than ten years.
