Neighborhood Meals on Wheels

Neighborhood Meals on Wheels (NMOW) is a Gwinnett County nonprofit with a simple purpose: to make sure older adults and at-risk individuals do not face hunger alone. Neighborhood Meals on Wheels' mission is to support Gwinnett seniors and at-risk individuals living and aging in place by providing freshly prepared and graciously delivered meals. Founded in 1979 by community members in Norcross who saw seniors struggling to shop and prepare meals, NMOW began as a small volunteer effort and has grown into a countywide program serving homebound seniors and adults with disabilities.

In 2005, NMOW became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Beginning in 2020, the organization entered a period of rapid growth under new leadership. Meals delivered increased from 2,506 in 2020 to 7,004 in 2021, 10,142 in 2022, 21,401 in 2023, 35,373 in 2024, 58,205 in 2025 and projected to prepare and deliver over 72,000 in 2026. Today, NMOW serves more than 300 seniors annually with the support of more than 260 active volunteers.

NMOW's primary program, Neighborly Meals & Outreach, prepares and delivers fresh meals Monday through Friday, with supplemental weekend food provided on Fridays. Every delivery also includes a friendly visit and brief wellness check. The program addresses hunger while helping seniors remain healthy, connected, and safely independent in their homes.
