All Eyes on Kickoff

College football is back, and Gwinnett is ready to spend Saturday, September 5, doing what it does best: picking sides, firing up the grill, and turning kickoff weekend into an all-day affair.

The University of Georgia opens its 2026 season against Tennessee State at Sanford Stadium in Athens at 3:00 p.m., giving Georgia Bulldogs fans the first real excuse of fall to pull out the red and black, dust off the tailgate gear, and start debating the season before the first snap.

Of course, Bulldog territory isn’t exactly unanimous. Georgia Tech, Clemson, Auburn, South Carolina, and plenty of other regional loyalties have their own cheering sections around Gwinnett.
