Once the sun goes down, fall around Gwinnett gets considerably less wholesome. The cornfields, wooded trails, and nearby haunts are ready with enough monsters, strange noises, and dark corners to make daylight feel like a very good idea.
Start Close to Home
Back after time away, the Buford Trail of Terror returns for fall 2026 to a new location: Lanier Islands. The outdoor attraction sends visitors down a dark trail filled with live actors and creepy characters, with the uneven terrain, low lighting, fog, sudden noises, and other effects adding to the experience. Younger guests can get an easier introduction during Kids Night, when the trail opens early at 6 p.m. before regular scares begin at 8.
A few miles away, the familiar fall trip to the Buford Corn Maze gets a nighttime personality change. Its 2026 Scream Zone attraction, The 13th Row, takes visitors into a haunted cornfield experience presented in 3-D with Chromadepth technology. Color, depth, shadows, and disorienting effects add another layer of uncertainty to every turn through the corn.
Go Bigger on the Scares
Anyone willing to cross just outside Gwinnett can take the fear level up several notches at NETHERWORLD Haunted House in Stone Mountain. The longtime Atlanta-area haunt celebrates its 30th season in 2026 with two attractions: Curse of the Collector and Beyond Oblivion: Legacy of Evil.
Both pull from decades of NETHERWORLD history, bringing back characters, scenes, and ideas from earlier seasons while adding new sets, effects, creatures, and scares. The two haunts tap into NETHERWORLD’s sprawling horror universe, giving longtime fans some familiar faces to spot while sending newcomers straight into the chaos.
That gives Gwinnett-area scare seekers three very different ways to test their nerves: wander into the woods, disappear into the corn, or hand yourself over to a full-scale horror production. Choose according to your courage level, and maybe reconsider volunteering to walk in front.
