Game On, Business On!

Game On, Business On!

The scoreboard may get the attention, but the money, partnerships and corporate strategy behind professional sports are doing plenty of work off the field. Gwinnett gets a closer look at that business on September 14.

The Gas South District Speaker Series turns its attention to sports at 10 a.m. Monday, September 14, with Inside the Business of Sports, presented by Northside Hospital.

The moderated conversation brings together three executives with unusually direct views into Atlanta’s sports economy: Atlanta Braves President and CEO Derek Schiller, Atlanta Falcons President Greg Beadles and Atlanta Sports Council President Dan Corso.

Rather than revisiting wins, losses and player stats, the discussion will focus on the machinery surrounding the games. The panel will explore how companies can connect with professional sports, build meaningful partnerships and find opportunities to become involved in the industry.

That includes some increasingly competitive territory: corporate investment, sponsorship dollars and the changing ways companies choose to spend money around sports.

The Business Behind the Ticket

Atlanta already sits among the country’s leading sports markets, and the September conversation will look at what it takes to keep it there.

Schiller, Beadles and Corso are expected to discuss the region’s position within the national sports landscape, the competition for corporate investment and sponsorships, and how business relationships with teams and sporting organizations are evolving.

For Gwinnett business leaders, that makes the conversation practical rather than theoretical. Companies do not need their names on a stadium to participate in the sports economy. Understanding how partnerships are built, where investment is moving and what organizations are looking for can reveal opportunities that extend far beyond the sidelines.

Guests will begin the morning with a complimentary continental breakfast before the program starts. Tickets and registration are available through Ticketmaster.

The appeal here is less celebrity access than perspective. These are executives responsible for the business side of organizations that help shape Atlanta’s national sports profile, sitting down to explain how that ecosystem actually works and where it may be headed next.

For one morning in Gwinnett, game day becomes business school.
