Good Deeds Are in Season!

Good Deeds Are in Season!

Holiday spirit doesn’t have to come wrapped with a bow. This November and December, you can pack Thanksgiving meals, fill the toy pile, or even lace up for a good cause, all while helping Gwinnett families have a brighter holiday season.

Pack a Little Holiday Cheer

On November 19, the Norcross Thanksgiving Packing Party brings volunteers to Generations Church to pack holiday food boxes for families in the Norcross Cluster. The Neighborhood Co-Op, Southwest Gwinnett Chamber, and Proximity Gap Network are teaming up for the effort, making it an easy way to roll up your sleeves before Thanksgiving.

Two days later, the giving continues in Lilburn. New Mercies Christian Church and Mercy Seed Resource Center will hold their Thanksgiving Giveaway on November 21, with volunteers helping provide holiday meals to 1,000 families.

A packed box or a few hours of volunteering might seem like a small contribution, but this is where those small things add up. One evening of packing helps put Thanksgiving dinner on the table for families just a few neighborhoods away.

Run, Give, Repeat

Come December, you can trade packing tape for running shoes. The Toys & Trotters 5K comes to Lawrenceville on December 12, pairing a morning run with a holiday toy drive. Participants are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots, so add one more item to the race-day checklist alongside your sneakers and water bottle.

You don’t need to run a 5K to get involved, either. Donate an item, sort supplies, pack a food box, make an extra grocery run, or carve out a couple of hours to volunteer. Pick what works with your schedule and make it part of the season!
