Jig, Sip, Repeat!

Jig, Sip, Repeat!

If you’ve ever thought Downtown Norcross could use a little more fiddle music and a few more leprechaun hats, March 7 is your day! Irish Fest takes over from 12 pm to 5 pm, turning the heart of town into a lively preview of St. Patrick’s season, complete with music, dance, and enough green to make your closet feel underdressed.

Hosted by the City of Norcross in partnership with the Historic Norcross Business Association, the festival brings serious energy in a compact, walkable footprint. This is not a massive street shutdown that requires a game plan and a hydration pack; it’s an afternoon that invites you to wander, linger, and run into at least three people you know.

A highlight of the day is the high energy performances from the Drake School of Irish Dance. Expect precise footwork, fast rhythms, and the kind of stage presence that makes you reconsider your own coordination. Between sets, live music keeps the vibe moving, while kids make a beeline for face painting and balloon artists, emerging with shamrocks on their cheeks and something festive in hand.

And yes, there will be costumes. Leprechaun hats, shamrock sunglasses, full green ensembles. The Irish Jig Contest invites brave participants to show off their best steps, whether they trained for years or picked up a crash course from a friend near the stage. It’s loose, it’s lively, and it’s the kind of friendly competition that turns strangers into a cheering section in under five minutes.

Slow Down, Sip Up

If you prefer your festival with a side of scones, there is a refined option woven into the fun. Taste of Britain is offering Afternoon Teas To Go for Irish Fest, giving you the chance to sip your way through the celebration. Tea boxes must be reserved in advance, so a little planning is required. Once secured, you can pick yours up on Saturday, March 7 between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. at the tent on Skin Alley. Find a spot, settle in, and enjoy a proper tea moment while the music and dancing carry on nearby.

Irish Fest lands at that sweet spot between neighborhood gathering and seasonal kickoff. It’s early enough in March to feel fresh, close enough to St. Patrick’s Day to get you in the mood, and local enough that you never feel like a spectator.
