Most road races begin with sunrise, serious stretching and at least one person checking a sports watch. Light Up the Corners waits until dark, adds blinking lights and turns Peachtree Corners into a glowing summer block party.
A Race That Shines After Dark
Light Up the Corners returns to The Forum on Saturday, August 15, bringing runners, walkers, families and teams together for an evening that values enthusiasm nearly as much as speed.
The family-friendly Twilight Trot begins at 8 p.m., giving younger participants and casual walkers a 1K route through the glowing atmosphere. At 8:30, the signature four-mile Glow Run sends participants through Peachtree Corners beneath blinking course lights, with glow gear helping transform the roadway into something considerably more festive than the average evening jog.
Both races start and finish near the center fountain at The Forum. The official registration page includes options for individuals, teams and virtual participants, along with packet pickup and race-day information.
Every finisher receives a medal and performance shirt, but the evening’s unofficial uniform is anything neon, flashing or bright enough to be spotted from across the parking lot. Participants are encouraged to pile on the glow sticks, illuminated accessories and colorful running gear for contests recognizing the glowiest adults, children and teams.
Running With a Local Purpose
The race’s event information makes clear that the finish line is only part of the evening. Registration includes access to pre-race and post-race festivities with music, food, drinks, face painting, games, sponsor activities and other entertainment.
That atmosphere makes the event approachable for people who would never describe themselves as competitive runners. Fast athletes can chase a strong time, while weekend joggers, families and walkers can settle into a pace that leaves room to enjoy the lights. Strollers are welcome at the back of the group, allowing even the smallest neighbors to participate without being responsible for forward motion.
The larger purpose remains local. Light Up the Corners is organized as a community fundraiser supporting programs that help children and families access health, fitness and youth activities. Volunteers, sponsors and returning participants turn a nighttime road race into something that reaches beyond one Saturday.
