Light it Up, Lilburn!

Light it Up, Lilburn!

Lilburn is giving the hometown tree lighting a high-tech glow-up! On November 21, Christmas lights will cover the tree, fill the park, and eventually take off into the night sky.

A Little Tradition, a Little Tech

Holiday Lights & Flight Fest runs from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Lilburn City Park. The afternoon starts with the familiar pieces of a neighborhood holiday celebration, including seasonal treats, food trucks, kids’ crafts, and photos with Santa.

The soundtrack stays close to home, too. Local school groups and churches will take the stage for musical performances throughout the event. That gives families plenty to settle into while daylight fades and the park starts looking a little more like Christmas.

Then comes the tree lighting. Everybody gathers, somebody counts down, and suddenly several strands of lights have the power to make a whole crowd pull out their phones.

This time, though, looking up pays off twice.

Christmas Lights Take Flight

The holiday drone show sends hundreds of coordinated lights overhead, swapping the boom and smoke of traditional fireworks for a display that moves, shifts, and forms designs across the sky. It’s a modern addition to an evening that still makes plenty of room for the classic Christmas stuff on the ground.

Kids can make a craft and visit Santa. Families can grab something warm or sweet from the food trucks. School and church groups get their moment onstage. Then everyone winds up looking in the same direction when the tree lights flick on and the drones rise above the park.

There’s something fitting about watching it all from the middle of Lilburn City Park. The park is already a gathering spot for city events, and the holidays give everyone another reason to claim a patch of lawn and stick around until dark.

By 6:30 p.m., Santa photos will be taken, treats will be eaten, and Lilburn’s Christmas tree will officially be glowing. The drones get the flashy entrance, but there’s still something pretty great about a whole park looking up together.
