Networking Without the Fuss

Networking Without the Fuss

Coffee meetings are fine. Coffee meetings where you accidentally leave with a new client, vendor recommendation, or business idea are better.

That’s the energy behind Open Networking at The NETT, the Gwinnett Chamber’s weekly networking meetup returning June 12 at the Chamber’s Duluth headquarters. From 9 to 10:30 a.m., the room fills with a mix of small business owners, sales reps, nonprofit leaders, entrepreneurs, and people who probably said “I’ll just stop by for thirty minutes” before staying the whole time.

Business Cards, But Make It Less Awkward

Anybody who’s spent time in networking circles knows the usual routine. Name tags. Elevator pitches. Someone clutching a lukewarm pastry while pretending to enjoy a forced icebreaker. The NETT skips most of that.

There’s no speaker lineup, no rigid agenda, and no pressure to perform like you’re auditioning for Shark Tank before 9 a.m. Conversations happen naturally, whether that’s two contractors comparing hiring struggles, a marketing consultant swapping ideas with a restaurant owner, or somebody finally meeting the person behind a business they’ve seen tagged all over LinkedIn for months.

In Gwinnett, where growth moves fast and referrals still carry serious weight, that kind of casual access matters. Plenty of businesses here are built on repeat relationships and word-of-mouth connections, especially across industries like real estatehealthcare, logistics, constructionfinance, and professional services. Events like The NETT create a consistent place for those connections to happen without turning networking into a full production.

The Chamber’s guest pass option also keeps the room from feeling overly exclusive. Members attend free, while non-members can visit and get a feel for the crowd before deciding whether to plug further into Gwinnett’s business network.

Why Gwinnett Keeps Leaning Into Networking

Gwinnett’s business scene has always had a little hustle to it. New restaurants open next to family-run accounting firms. Startups share corridors with companies that have been around for decades. Everybody seems to know somebody who can help move a project forward faster.

That’s part of why weekly networking events continue to pull strong attendance. They offer something increasingly valuable in a schedule packed with Zoom calls and inbox clutter: actual face time.

And honestly, sometimes the best business move of the week starts with standing near the coffee table on a Thursday morning in Duluth.

Open Networking at The NETT takes place June 12 at the Gwinnett Chamber headquarters in Duluth. Registration is available through the Gwinnett Chamber website.
