New City, New Traditions!
Mulberry’s throwing its first-ever festival June 13, and this debut already sounds like a good one! The Mulberry Jam Festival brings food trucks, live music, bounce houses, and community planning conversations to Duncan Creek Park for one big summer kickoff.
A Strong Start For A Brand-New City
There’s going to be a lot happening between 3 and 7 p.m. at Duncan Creek Park. Kids will make a beeline for the bounce houses before parents even unfold their lawn chairs, food truck lines will start forming early, and live music will carry across one of Gwinnett’s busiest park spaces while vendors set up shop nearby.
But Mulberry Jam isn’t just filling the calendar with another summer event. City leaders are also using the festival to collect public input for Mulberry’s Comprehensive Plan, which will guide future decisions involving parks, transportation, housing, development, and growth as the new city continues taking shape.
Thankfully, nobody’s asking residents to spend a Saturday afternoon trapped inside a fluorescent-lit meeting room staring at presentation slides. The planning conversations are built directly into the festival atmosphere, which makes the whole thing feel more like an actual community gathering and less like mandatory homework.
Duncan Creek Already Knows How to Handle a Crowd
Anyone who’s spent time at Duncan Creek Park during baseball season knows the place already operates at full speed once summer arrives. Between youth sports, packed playgrounds, walking trails, and weekend gatherings, the park naturally carries the kind of energy Mulberry Jam is leaning into.
Festival plans include:
- Live music throughout the afternoon
- Food trucks
- Local vendors
- Bounce houses
- Opportunities to share city input
The setup works because it already feels familiar. Families are used to spending long afternoons at Duncan Creek Park, whether that means tournament weekends, playground pit stops, or squeezing in a walk before Georgia heat fully takes over the evening. Mulberry Jam simply gives everybody one more reason to stay awhile.
Between the live music, packed park energy, and community conversations, the festival gives Mulberry a lively first chapter that actually reflects the people helping shape the city in real time. For a brand-new city, that’s a pretty strong way to make an introduction!
