Norcross in Full Color!
On most Saturdays, Thrasher Park is full of families heading to the playground, couples walking through downtown Norcross, and residents settling into one of Gwinnett’s busiest community gathering spots. But on June 13, the park takes on a different kind of energy as Gwinnett Pride returns from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. with live music, local vendors, performances, food, and a countywide celebration centered around visibility, connection, and community.
Organized by Visibility Club in partnership with Gwinnett County Government, the free festival has become one of Gwinnett’s most recognizable Pride Month events. What began through grassroots organizing efforts has steadily grown into a large-scale community gathering that reflects both the diversity of Gwinnett and the increasing visibility of LGBTQIA+ residents across the county.
That local connection is part of what makes the event resonate. Gwinnett Pride doesn’t feel disconnected from the community around it or built solely for visitors passing through. The festival is intentionally rooted in Gwinnett itself, bringing together residents, local organizations, small businesses, families, and allies in a setting that already serves as one of Norcross’ central public gathering spaces.
A Festival That Feels Like Community
Throughout the afternoon, attendees can expect performances from local artists and DJs from La Choloteca, along with vendor booths, food and drinks, community organizations, and family-friendly activities spread throughout the park.
The event’s atmosphere tends to feel approachable rather than overwhelming. People move between music performances and vendor tents, stop to connect with local organizations, and settle into the lawn near the stage as the afternoon unfolds. Downtown Norcross itself adds to the experience, with restaurants and shops surrounding the park helping the area stay active well beyond the festival hours.
Gwinnett Pride has never really been about keeping things quiet anyway. It’s the kind of weekend where somebody’s dancing in the park, somebody else is making new friends beside a food truck line, and half the crowd is already planning where to meet back up after the parade wraps.
So grab the sunscreen, claim a lawn chair, and keep the calendar open. This June’s shaping up to be a busy one!
