Put Some Pink in Your Step!

Put Some Pink in Your Step!

Clear your Saturday morning and find something pink! Paint Gwinnett Pink returns October 17, bringing Gwinnett together on the Gas South Arena campus in Duluth for its 11th annual 5K Walk/Run for Breast Cancer and Survivor Celebration.

Lace Up, Gwinnett

The morning starts at 7:30 a.m. with registration and vendor booths, followed by opening remarks at 8 a.m. and the survivor celebration at 8:15 a.m. At 9 a.m., everybody hits the course.

Some will be there to race. The USATF-certified 5K is a Peachtree Road Race qualifier, after all. Others will walk with coworkers, friends, and family, probably doing more catching up than clock-watching. There’s plenty of room for both.

If you’re planning to be part of the morning, registration closes October 13. You can register on your own, start a team, or join one that’s already going. Returning participants should use their existing account information, and everyone registering is encouraged to review the registration guide on the website before getting started. Packet pickup follows October 15 at the Gwinnett Hospital System Foundation office in Lawrenceville.

For Gwinnett Magazine sponsors joining us on race day, your sponsorship includes up to 25 participant registrations. Use sponsor code GWMAG26 when registering your team. If you need to add participants beyond those 25 spots, contact the Paint Gwinnett Pink Event Team at paintgwinnettpink@northside.com or 678-312-8500, and an invoice will be sent for the additional registrations.

This One Hits Home

There’s plenty happening on race morning, but the reason behind it is much bigger. Since 2016, Paint Gwinnett Pink supporters have raised more than $3.85 million for programs and equipment needs supporting the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute in Gwinnett.

This year’s goal is $525,000, giving every walker, runner, team, and donor something bigger to work toward together. And when the people being celebrated are our friends, relatives, coworkers, and neighbors, those miles carry a little more weight.

You can lace up alongside the community or donate to someone else taking on the 5K. And if you’d like to keep giving after race morning, Northside Hospital’s giving program supports cancer care and other programs throughout the hospital system.

By 11 a.m., the finish line will be packed up and Saturday will carry on. But for one morning, neighbors from across Gwinnett get to walk, run, celebrate survivors, remember those lost to breast cancer, and put some real hometown muscle behind a cause that has touched so many families around us.
