Recovery Care Gets a New Address
Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital has joined Gwinnett’s growing healthcare landscape, adding a new destination for patients rebuilding strength, independence, and everyday routines after serious medical events.
The new facility recently opened along Loganville Highway, bringing a 52,000-square-foot inpatient rehabilitation facility to one of Gwinnett’s growing medical corridors. The hospital is a joint venture between Encompass Health and Piedmont, two names already well known around Gwinnett.
The 40-bed hospital includes all private patient rooms and is designed for people recovering from serious medical events and conditions, including strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic issues. Patients receive intensive therapy, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, along with physician visits and 24-hour nursing care.
That matters because recovery is often where the real work begins. Hospitals can save lives, but rehab helps people return to the regular rhythms of daily life, from walking safely to managing basic routines with more confidence.
A Growing Medical Footprint
For Piedmont, the opening expands access to rehabilitation services in a part of Gwinnett that continues to see residential and healthcare growth. The facility also builds on Piedmont’s existing partnership with Encompass Health, which operates several inpatient rehabilitation hospitals across Georgia.
The hospital includes a therapy gym equipped with advanced rehabilitation technology, an activities of daily living suite, an in-house dialysis suite, a therapy courtyard, a pharmacy, and shared spaces designed to support patients throughout the recovery process.
Rehabilitation care extends far beyond traditional medical treatment. Patients often work with multidisciplinary teams focused on mobility, communication, daily living skills, and long-term independence. The hospital's specialized spaces were designed to support that hands-on approach to recovery.
Why It Matters for Gwinnett
The business angle is hard to miss. Gwinnett’s population growth continues to push demand for healthcare access, medical jobs, and infrastructure that can keep pace with the people who live here. A specialized post-acute care facility gives families another option when recovery requires more than a follow-up appointment and a hopeful “take it easy.”
Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital’s opening adds another layer to Gwinnett’s medical economy, where healthcare is both a quality-of-life issue and a major piece of the local business landscape. It also signals continued investment in services that help residents recover closer to home, with families nearby and support systems within reach.
