Rise, Grind, Get Strong!

Rise, Grind, Get Strong!

Thursday mornings at Peachtree Corners Town Green are looking a little more intense these days.

Before most people have fully settled into their inboxes, a growing group is already out on the Town Green flipping tires, running drills, climbing obstacles, and voluntarily doing burpees in public. Which, depending on your relationship with cardio, either sounds deeply motivating or mildly concerning.

CrossFit on the Green, hosted by PPG CrossFit, has quietly turned into one of the more energetic weekly events happening around Peachtree Corners. Running every Thursday through November 19 from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., the free outdoor workout series blends fitness, community, and just enough organized chaos to keep things interesting.

And despite the name, you don’t need to arrive looking like you train for obstacle races recreationally.

Certified coach Terrance Fox of CrossFit PPG leads the sessions with workouts designed to scale for different fitness levels, meaning beginners can modify movements while longtime gym regulars still get challenged. The setup keeps the atmosphere welcoming instead of intimidating, which is probably part of why the crowd continues growing.

Nobody’s expected to show up ready for a highlight reel fitness montage.

Where Community Meets Cardio

Part of what makes these sessions stand out is the setting itself. Town Green already works as one of Peachtree Corners’ central gathering spaces, surrounded by restaurants, walking paths, and community activity throughout the week. Bringing fitness outdoors changes the energy entirely. It feels less like dragging yourself to the gym and more like starting the morning alongside people who also decided to do something productive before 9:00 a.m.

Then there’s Fort Pain.

The 26-element obstacle course built into Town Green adds a completely different layer to the workouts. Inspired by Spartan races and military-style training setups, the course includes climbing obstacles, agility stations, balance elements, and strength challenges that make every session feel slightly different from the last.

Fortunately, the event doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Yes, there are people pushing hard through every station. But there are also participants simply trying to move more consistently, meet people, and enjoy exercising outside instead of staring at televisions mounted above treadmills.

That balance is part of the appeal. The workouts challenge people without creating the kind of hyper-competitive atmosphere that scares newcomers away. Some participants show up every week. Others drop in occasionally between work meetings, school schedules, or summer travel plans.

Either way, Thursday mornings at Town Green now come with a standing invitation to sweat a little, laugh a little, and leave feeling stronger than when you arrived.
