Saturday’s Looking Spooktacular!
Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, giving Gwinnett something better than a rushed weeknight candy run: an entire stretch of costumes, movies, ghost stories, trick-or-treating and after-dark fun.
Candy Buckets Get the Early Shift
Families can start with Braselton’s Halloween PathParade and Carnival on October 31, where decorated golf carts and costumed participants take over the LifePath before the celebration continues with carnival activities and trick-or-treating.
There are plenty of chances to fill a candy bucket elsewhere, too. Subaru of Gwinnett’s Trunk or Treat in Duluth gives the usual decorated-trunk setup a creative spin with themed vehicles including a Haunted Forest, Pumpkin Patch and Stargazing Adventure. In Grayson, the city’s Trunk or Treat adds another community celebration to the Halloween lead-up.
Then there is Monsters and Movie on Main in Lilburn from 4 to 8 p.m. on Halloween. Families can trick-or-treat along Main Street before heading to Lilburn City Park for games, food vendors, candy and a costume contest. A family-friendly movie on a giant inflatable screen begins at 7 p.m., which is a pretty efficient way to handle dinner, candy and entertainment in one stop.
After Dark Gets Interesting
Adults can start the weekend a night early in Sugar Hill, where The Rocky Horror Picture Show Shadow Cast Performance comes to The Eagle Theatre on October 30. Live performers act out the cult classic in front of the screen, audience participation is part of the experience, and each ticket includes a prop-filled goodie bag. There are performances at 6:30 and 10 p.m., so there is ample opportunity to do the Time Warp again.
Lawrenceville supplies a different sort of shiver with Aurora Theatre’s Ghost Tours. Storytellers lead evening walks through downtown Lawrenceville, sharing local legends and tales of paranormal encounters. Halloween-night tours are scheduled for 7 and 9 p.m.
And when the candy buckets have been retired for the evening, downtown Buford keeps going. 37 Main’s Nightmare on Mainstreet starts October 31 with doors at 7 p.m. and a 21-and-up Halloween party featuring live music from Stealing 3rd, costumes and late-night festivities.
