Your Hometown College

Some places grow with a community. Others help shape it. For the past 21 years, Georgia Gwinnett College has done both, evolving from a brand-new campus into Gwinnett County's hometown college while preparing thousands of students for what's next.

Since opening in 2005 with just 118 students, GGC has grown to more than 12,000 students and over 15,000 alumni. About 75 percent of students come from Gwinnett County, and many stay after graduation, building careers that strengthen local schools, businesses, healthcare systems, and the region's workforce.

Looking Ahead

Now entering its 21st year, GGC continues to add opportunities that reflect where today's careers are headed. This fall, information technology majors can choose a new artificial intelligence concentration, and in spring 2027, the college will welcome the inaugural class of its first graduate degree, a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education.

Students can choose from 21 bachelor's degree programs, including business administration, nursing, criminal justice, biology, political science, environmental science, and cinema and media arts production. Undergraduate research, faculty mentorship, the Honors Program, and an integrative studies degree give students even more ways to customize their experience.

More Than the Classroom

Learning doesn't end when class does. More than 100 student organizations, Greek Life, on-campus housing, athletics, and traditions like Welcome Week and Homecoming help students build friendships and leadership skills along the way. They may even spot General, GGC's mascot, making the rounds across campus.

That sense of community is matched by achievement. More than 3,100 students earned Spring 2026 President's List or Dean's List honors, while Grizzly Athletics continues to add conference championships and national recognition. Men's and women's cross country debut this fall, with women's volleyball joining the lineup in 2027.
