Earlier this week the American Dental Association (ADA) issued a letter to all dentists nationwide strongly recommending that dental practices help reduce the spread of COVID-19 by postponing elective procedures for three weeks, and to only see patients who have dental needs that are deemed as emergency or “essential”. Additionally, the Federal government recently recommended that all gatherings of more than 10 people be curtailed.

Gwinnett Family Dental Care is actively complying with these guidelines. Effective March 18, 2020, we will scale back our practice operations and hours to accommodate only patients who have emergencies or need essential procedures, per the ADA guidelines.

Following these guidelines means we have made the difficult decision to temporarily postpone all non-emergency or non-essential dental procedures, cleanings and check-ups for the time being for at least three weeks. The health of our patients and our Team is our first priority, and we feel a responsibility to make this decision that might help keep everyone as healthy as possible. We also feel a very strong sense of social responsibility to our community to do our part in mitigating the spread of this virus.

As of now, we plan to reopen for normal operations on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. We will constantly reevaluate the current state of this situation and provide any updates as needed. Any patients who need assistance or have questions are welcome to give our office a call at 770-921-1115.

On March 14th, 2020, Supreme Court Chief Justice Melton entered an Order declaring a statewide judicial emergency. This Order applies to all courts sitting in the State of Georgia:

“To the extent feasible, courts should remain open to address essential functions, and in particular courts should give priority to matters necessary to protect health, safety, and liberty of individuals. Essential functions are subject to interpretation; however, some matters that fall into the essential function category are: (1) where an immediate liberty or safety concern is present requiring the attention of the court as soon as the court is available; (2) criminal court search warrants, arrest warrants, initial appearances, and bond reviews; (3) domestic abuse temporary protective orders and restraining orders; (4) juvenile court delinquency detention hearings and emergency removal matters; and (5) mental health commitment hearings.”
